Charity ride to the seaside – taking the Qurius UK ‘cycle to work’ scheme a little further!
Fitting in with the Sustainability pillar, Qurius UK staff have been able to join a ‘cycle to work’ scheme for around 18 months. Qurius UK pays for the bicycles initially, then the employee pays back the company gradually over a year, saving up to 50% of the cost due to a government tax incentive.
Qurius UK staff have decided to focus their enthusiasm for bicycles and environmental sustainability into a charity event: riding from the Bury office to Blackpool, the UK’s most famous seaside resort, home to Blackpool tower and the Pleasure Beach theme park.
At 9am on the 14th October, ten members of the Qurius UK team will tackle the journey of over 40 miles to Blackpool, attempting to raise money for the charity Christies. The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 40,000 patients a year. It provides radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.
The Qurius UK team hope to raise over £3000 for Christies and would greatly appreciate if some of their international colleagues could help them to achieve this target by donating here: http://www.justgiving.com/quriusuk.
